Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Bile Ducts Causing Obstructive Jaundice in a Child: A Case Report

Jaundice in older children can occur when any obstructon is found within the bile ducts, either from stones,parasites, choledochal cysts and rarely, secondary to tumors. We present a previously well, 10-year-old Filipino boy with three-week history of progressive jaundice tea-colored urine, was initally assessed have biliary ascariasis. Ultrasound showed heterogeneous focus spanning gallbladder neck confrmed on endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography as an exophytc mass at ampulla Vater. Tumor biopsy immunohistochemical staining diagnosis Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma Bile Ducts. Chemotherapy initated reduce size tumor before surgical interventon could be atempted. Despite chemotherapy, progressively grew. He acquired respiratory infecton which led sepsis his eventual demise. The disease should considered diferental child obstructve afer exclusion other more common causes. &nbsp
